During your group tour to Boston you may want to visit the famous Boston Massacre Site. The students can learn about this event and take a look at some interesting memorabilia. There is also a tour offered for your student group to enjoy. The Boston Massacre took place on March 5th, 1770. Five colonists were killed by British regulars. The tragedy was due to tensions between the two opposing sides since the British royals came into the city in the year 1768.
There is a ring of stones that marks the site of the Boston Massacre. There are reenactments that take place on the anniversary of the event. The site of the famous bloodshed is located on the Freedom Trail. There are a few tours given that include the site. One of the tours is the Walk into History Tour. There is also the African-American Patriots Tour offered as well as the Historic Holiday Stroll.
During the Walk into History Tour, the student group will be led by an 18th century costumed guide. The tour includes 11 of the 16 historic sites on the Freedom Trail. The students will hear tales about the colonists who helped the United States gain independence.
During the African-American Patriots Tour, the students will listen to tales of intrigue and bravery as well as poetry. The group will view history through the eyes of “Black Bostonians.” The tour is 90 minutes. The stories will be about individuals such as Crispus Attucks, Phillis Wheatley, and Peter Salem.
