Bunker Hill MonumentDuring your student group trip to Boston you may want to stop by and take in the view of the famous historical landmark known as the Bunker Hill Monument. The students will have the opportunity to learn about the battle and they will also see the memorial as part of the experience. The battle took place on June 17th, 1775.

 

The students can see the 221-foot granite obelisk that marks the site of the first battle in the American Revolution. There are also interesting exhibits to view in the Bunker Hill Museum. You will see dioramas, murals, and several interesting artifacts from the battle. For example, you will have the chance to take a look at a cannonball. There is also a snare drum, a sword, and a masonic apron worn by Dr. Joseph Warin. Dr. Warin was a revolutionary leader who perished during the battle.

 

The battle site is located on the Freedom Trail. There is a tour offered to your student group that includes this particular location. It is known as the Walk into History Tour – North End. During the tour, students will view a number of fascinating historical landmarks. One example is the Old North Church. You will also see Paul Revere’s House and the Copps Hill Burying Ground. This tour is approximately 90 minutes in length. The North End is Boston’s oldest neighborhood. The experience is an amazing way for the students to learn about this famous battle that changed the course of United States history.
