While your student group is visiting the amazing city of Boston you may want to stop and take in the sights at the Minute Man National Historic Park. The students will explore the battlefields and other structures of the park, and see the American Revolution brought to life through their experience. The opening battle of the Revolution took place on this site on April 19, 1775. Minute Man National Historic Park offers a variety of activities for students of all ages to enjoy. For example, there are guided tours available which allow your group to have a closer look at the structures at the location. These tours are scheduled April through November, so your group will need to plan accordingly for the programs. One of the tours offered is called the “Battle Road Trail Walk.” During the program, students will learn about the events that occurred on April 19, 1775. They will also learn about the American Revolution through the perspective of the Concord authors. There are also “Battle Road Bike Tours,” where the students can ride on the historic trail. During your experience, the group can take time to explore the Center for 18th Century Life. You can also visit the “Minute Man Visitor Center,” where the group will see a forty-foot mural that portrays the fighting between the Colonists and British Regulars. There is also an introductory film titled: “The Road to Revolution.” It is a multimedia program which provides an introduction to the main park story and also focuses on Paul Revere’s ride. There are also other interesting exhibits in the center for the students to observe.
