While your student group is visiting Chicago, you may want to spend some time exploring the Shedd Aquarium. There are several fascinating interactive exhibits for the pupils to enjoy. The team can also enjoy a variety of animal encounters and other educational programs during the visit.
The pupils can choose from several animal encounters and behind-the-scenes guided tours. You will find programs such as the Shark Feeding Tour: Behind the Scenes in the Wild Reef, the Beluga Encounter, the Penguin Encounter, and the Behind the Scenes Tour. The Beluga Encounter begins with an informative orientation, which is given by one of Shedd’s animal experts. You will learn about the care of the animals, the beluga you will meet, and the best way to have a safe and fun experience. After the introduction, the pupils will pull on waders and stand alongside a trainer face-to-face with a beluga whale. The team will have the opportunity to touch the whale’s skin and also try some training techniques.
The Shedd Aquarium has various exhibits to examine as part of the experience. Participants will find exhibits such as Amazon Rising, Caribbean Reef, Jellies, The Polar Play Zone, Waters of the World, and At Home on the Great Lakes. The Waters of the World exhibit has animals from around the world. The pupils will find creatures from the lakes of Africa, the rivers of Asia, and the rainforests in South America. The Polar Play Zone Exhibit is where participants will put on a penguin suit and try being a bird in the icy south. The pupils will learn about polar opposites and also have the opportunity to observe whales and sharks in the underwater viewing area of the exhibit.
