While your student group is visiting the Los Angeles area, you should check out the La Brea Tar Pits Page Museum. The location is the world’s most famous ice age fossil excavation site. There are various collections in the museum as well as interesting exhibits. Visitors of all ages will enjoy this attraction.
Group members will have the opportunity to explore the museum, the Park Labs, and observe fossil excavation. You will begin at the Fossil Lab inside the museum. Then the students will move outside to the Observation Pit. The team can check out the Ice Age Encounters as part of the experience. These presentations are for pupils in 2nd through sixth grade. The events last for 15 minutes.
The exhibits at the Page museum are educational and interesting. The group will see over one million ice age fossils that are from 650 different species. You will find species which include bison, the camel, the condor, a horse, and a mammoth. You can check out fascinating collections that contain a variety of fossils from several species. One of the collections is known as Birds at Rancho La Brea. The collection contains 139 species of fossil birds. You will find songbirds, hawks, and eagles. Another interesting collection is called Invertebrates at Rancho La Brea. In this collection, the pupils can examine fossils from animals which include scorpions, spiders, snails, clams, pill bugs, dragonflies, and grasshoppers.
