It was 1944 and World War II had finally rolled to an end. Our Nation was once more forward-looking and hopeful, and an exciting new children’s museum opened in the old University of Nashville building. In 1954, the museum debuted the first planetarium in Tennessee; in 1974, it moved to Fort Negley Boulevard on Old Saint Cloud Hill. The name changed through the years as well – most recently from Cumberland Science Museum to Adventure Science Center, November of 2002. Numerous revisions and relocations aside, one thing has not changed: the Adventure Science Center remains steadfast in its mission focus of creating entertaining and amazing exhibits full of interactive learning opportunities for curious guests of all ages! Go for the ride of your life on a “high-performance aircraft” or take a “star walk” thru deep space; get up-close and personal with dark and mysterious sunspots and angry solar flares or spend a day in the life of your body!
