Day 1
- Your tour of Italy begins when you arrive in Rome and check into your hotel.
Day 2
- Rome – You’ve got both Ancient and Christian Rome on the itinerary for today and tomorrow. You’ll be able to imagine the actual splendor of the Roman Empire when you visit amazing sites like the Piazza San Bernardo and Moses’ Fountain, the Memorial to King Vittorio Emanuele II and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Other sites this day include the Capitol, the Colosseum, the Catacombs of St. Callixtus – and many other breathtaking ancient Roman structures.
Day 3
- Vatican City – In the morning you’ll take a tour of Vatican City with its museums filled with art from around the world, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the magnificent Sistine Chapel. Take the afternoon to explore Rome at your own pace, perhaps returning to your favorite sites.
Day 4
- Naples and Pompeii – Your panoramic tour of Naples includes a view of the Abbey of Montecassino, the pier of Santa Lucia and Castel dell’Ovo, the Royal Palace, Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, San Carlo Opera House, and more. Then eat lunch at a restaurant in Pompeii, visit a factory that produces coral jewelry and cameos, and visit the excavations that allude to the once great Roman town before the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
Day 5
- Rome – How about a full day of exploration in Rome? Believe us, there’s plenty to see.
Day 6
- Assisi / Florence – Today you’ll visit the Basilica of St. Francis, his tomb, and Assisi known as The City of Birds and Silence. After that: Florence – home of the Renaissance and some of the world’s greatest collections of art.
Day 7
- Florence – There’s still more to see in Florence, including the view from Piazza Michelangelo and then Santa Croce Church and Accademia – an art museum possibly best known for Michelangelo’s David. The rest of your time in Florence can be spent at Uffizi Gallery or possibly off-the-beaten-path sites like the Medici Chapel and the Bargello Museum.
Day 8
- Tuscany – The Tuscan countryside is a quiet reprieve to bustling Florence. Follow a local guide to the marble Duomo and the Campo, which hosts the annual Palio horse race and into the countryside for lunch and wine tours.
Day 9
- Florence – Another full day in amazing Florence. Optional attractions include the Pisa, San Gimignano, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens.
Day 10
- Florence – This is your last day to explore Florence. Make it great with some of the optional attractions above or by further exploring the site
Day 11
- Depart for Home
