When your student group takes a trip to the wonderful city of Boston you may want to stop and see all of the fascinating animals at the Franklin Park Zoo. There are several exhibits for students to explore and enjoy. The Zoo is also a great place for the students to learn about these unique creatures by taking part in one of the educational programs. These programs are interactive and hands-on, making them easy for the students to get engaged in! During the student group visit to the Zoo, you can take advantage of a Behind-the-Scenes tour. There is a hands-on tour offered for students of all ages. The tour takes place on the Franklin Farm. You will find horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, chickens and pigs. Students will learn how to care for a horse and this includes the process of grooming the animals. Another educational program is known as the Adaptations Program. The students will have the opportunity to observe different animals and determine characteristics such as how they eat, move, and how they protect themselves. They will engage in interactive activities where they investigate birds, reptiles, and mammals. The exhibits are both fascinating and interactive. One exhibit is known as the Aussie Aviary, where you will find brightly colored budgies. These interesting birds live in a warm-weather exhibit and fly freely around the habitat. Students are encouraged to feed the birds during the experience. Another example is known as the Tiger Tales Exhibit. The group will encounter Anala who is an orange tiger and Luther who is white. These animals live in a habitat with plenty of sun and shade to keep them comfortable. They were sent to the Zoo by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
