As you plan for your student group to visit Chicago, you should spend some time at the Chicago History Museum. The museum has several fascinating exhibitions for the team to explore. The pupils will find a variety of exhibits at the Chicago History Museum. There are exhibitions such as Vivian Maier’s Chicago, Lincoln’s Chicago, Abraham Lincoln, Unexpected Chicago, Facing Freedom, The Dioramas, Sensing Chicago, and Treasures. At the Unexpected Chicago exhibit, the group will find clothing and accessories as well as thousands of archives of Chicago’s many treasures. Sensing Chicago is an engaging exhibit where participants will have the opportunity to use their five senses to explore the city’s unique past. Pupils will do things such as ride a high-wheel bicycle, hear the Great Chicago Fire, catch a fly ball at Comiskey Park, and be a Chicago-style hot dog.
There are various educational activities for the team to experience during the visit. The museum offers workshops, an audio tour, and History a` la Cart Stations. The workshops focus on a range of topics and are for pupils of all ages. The History a` la Cart Stations are located in different parts of the museum. The class will engage in 20 minute hands-on activities and explore Chicago’s fascinating history. For students in grades three through five, there are activities that cover topics such as the Great Chicago Fire, the Prairie Landscape, Skyscrapers, and Artifacts. At the Skyscrapers station participants will have the opportunity discover how skyscrapers are constructed and also participate in building activities.
