When you take your student group to Los Angeles, you should consider visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. There is a fascinating collection of art for your team to observe. Pupils of all ages will enjoy seeing the collection and learning about the artists featured at the museum.
Participants will have the opportunity to see a selection of works of art and discuss a variety of topics. Group members in grades one to five can check out an activity which is known as Seeing Matters. In the course of the presentation, the team will learn through careful observation, conversation, and critical thinking how to interpret the visual elements of art. Group members in grades six through 12 can also enjoy a variety of activities such as Heroes and Legends Gods and Myths, The Artist as a Social Conscience, and the Art of Many Cultures Presentation.
At the Los Angeles County Museum of Art the team can check out several different galleries while you are visiting. Group members will see collections which include French oil sketches, gods and goddesses the Diego Revera collection, the impressionism collection, Spanish Colonial Art, and textiles. In the textiles collection, the pupils can check out works of art such as leaves, eucalypts, perspective works, and luminous. Group members can also examine a collection of African Art at the museum as well. The pupils can also read about different artists in the Art Library Room. The museum shows films throughout the year as well.
